Banks

NatWest

9 North St, Rugby CV21 2AH, UK – 0345 788 8444

Staff friendly. Parking via either pay & display over the road behind the buildings opposite, or in the multi storey shopping centre car park behind, otherwise its a pain to drive to. Don't park in the loading area to the right of the bank. Have to bus (stop outside) or walk to it. Couple of cash machines outside that usually in working order. Some inside when open. Reasonable range of services. Can get busy.

Local Chambers of Commerce for CV23 9RN. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Hunters Lane Waste Recycling Centre

Hunters Ln, Rugby CV21 1EA, UK

A great place to recycle almost everything or just to throw it away. The staff always helpful and when asked will advise you where to place your items to recycle. Nearly always now there is a queue to get your vehicle in but it doesn't take too long. The charity shop is useful for the odd things and all electrical items are checked. Probably one of the best recycling centres in the area.

A great facility for Rugby where you can recycle most things. Stuff that is still in decent condition can also go into the charity shop there, which is also a really handy place itself, particularly for things like electrical and plumbing spares. Be aware that queues can get really long at popular times, also if you turn up in a van they'll likely make you pay a fee as a trader, even if it's not trade waste (this happened to me!).

Clews Recycling Ltd

Great service, reliable company. Prices are good!

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Marton

Omar's Restaurant

1 The Dr, Dunchurch, Rugby CV22 6NU, UK – 01788 819141

Nice decoration and atmosphere. Food was amazing, really good vegetarian options and helpful waiters. Would highly recommend!

Excellent all-you-can-eat buffet. I tried a little of most dishes and loved every one

The Huntsman Carvery

20 The Square, Dunchurch, Rugby CV22 6NU, UK – 01788 811748

Very healthy portions (of meat - buffet service for the rest). Fair price and good food. Nice location in a quaint little town outside Rugby. Friendly and professional staff. £25pp for 3 course inc buffet carvery.

The best place to eat in the Midlands by far possibly the whole country. I seriously don't remember eating anywhere where the food has been as consistently good and for a carvery that is a truly impressive feat. The location is lovely, the restaurant itself is cosy and the staff are always really friendly. Also they make their ice-cream for on site and it's amazing. 100% recommend to everyone.

Cinnamon Lounge

The Square, Dunchurch, Rugby CV22 6NU, UK – 01788 812855

There have been several claims for the longest sentence in the English language, usually with claims that revolve around the longest printed sentence. There is no absolute limit on the length of a written English sentence. A sentence can be made as long as time allows with concatenating (linking) clauses using grammatical conjunctions such as and. Sentences can also be extended indefinitely by the addition of modifiers and modifier clauses, such as: The mouse that the cat that the dog chased ....[1] or of successive extensions of the form Someone thinks that someone thinks that someone thinks that...,[2] The longest grammatically correct sentence is contained in Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner. The sentence is composed of 1,292 words (In the 1951 Random House version). Another sentence that is often claimed to be the longest sentence ever written is Molly Bloom's soliloquy in the James Joyce novel Ulysses, which contains a sentence of 4,391 words. However, this sentence is simply many sentences without punctuation. Jonathan Coe's The Rotters' Club appears to hold the record at 13,955 words. It was inspired by Bohumil Hrabal's Dancing Lessons for the Advanced in Age: a Czech language novel that consisted of one great sentence.[3] The ability to embed structures within larger ones is called recursion.[4] This also highlights the difference between linguistic performance and linguistic competence, because the language can support more variation than can reasonably be created or recorded.[2] At least one linguistics textbook concludes that, in theory, "there is no longest English sentence".[5]

Public & Preparatory Schools

Crescent School

Bawnmore Rd, Rugby CV22 7QH, UK – 01788 521595

Best primary school in Rugby.

Bilton Grange Preparatory School

Dunchurch, Rugby CV22 6QU, UK – 01788 810217

I have two boys at Bilton Grange and would not hesitate in recommending the school. The school has managed to challenge the boys (who are very different) and keep them engaged every step of the way. Both boys have solid and loyal friendships with their classmates and can't wait to get to school. They play sport every other day and BG has managed to train them into able sportsmen. I am most proud of their manners and gentlemanly behaviour. It is a wonderful school with a great set of enthusiastic, hard working teachers.
